Tiger in NZ 4 sale

Post by Mal » Mon Jun 06, 2011 4:09 am

Better photo's would help, but looks as though it could be a nice car.

Mal,

A presentable looking car, and factory RHD we can assume if it was an original NZ delivery? Price is very tempting too.

Better photo's have been put up.

Michael, could well be one of the RRO cars. Price is good.

At the moment with the strength of our dollar against the US or the pound gives us more options. In the past the pound was three times the value of the nz $, now only double.

I have my hands full with the one I have anyway.

Mal, i agree with you on the $... but i guess i also look at AU v NZ which is 1.3 at the moment.. which makes that a cheap tiger.. its RHD, and its close so shipping will be MUCH less than the 7K i cashed out to get mine from the states to melbourne.

Also would be cheap to fly over and inspect (must not buy another car, must not buy another car , must not buy another car) :o

Hi Mal,

Thanks for the post and a very nice looking Tiger. Very low Km's and well worth the asking price. Do you know the owner? May be you could even start your Tiger collection Mal.

Regards, Robin.

Go on Mal, have it.

You could run it while you get your red one up and running.
Tell the missus it is an investment. :D

You know you want to.

Sorry guys for laughing so loud, but one Tiger is enough. I think I am cured from car restoration forever (well a few years anyway)

What if you tell your wife that you have her best interests in hand and the white Tiger will be hers. Surely she can't say no to that?

Hi Graham - VIR report, which I'm guessing is a bit like a DVLA search - Mal could confirm - returns B9473620 RRO. No record of JAL or engine number (actually the VIN number is recorded as the engine number on the doco - then again, it's also listed as a 5 seater!!)

The VIR report is very interesting: documented ownership back to 27th Jan 1966 - 7 confirmed NZ owners.

Cheers, Tom

Thanks for that Tom. As you say one of the 'sold new' to NZ Tigers

There is a bit more about RRO Tigers under the topic 'Tiger Colours' dated 24/4/2011 in this main Sunbeam Tiger index.

We have found a fair few UK log books where on first registration the chassis number was entered again as the engine number. This was the case for the Alpine and I guess some registration offices followed suit for the Tiger!
