The car appears to still have its works factory rally front guards, they still have the triangular holes at the top to let heat out of the engine bay (and given the motor i'd say are letting much more heat out than the rally motor).

It's interesting when a racing car evolves as they age, they often go in to different classes and are modified accordingly... then one day when they become classic you have to choose what state to put them back to.

In this case as its a replica of that car.. not an issue, but think about the interesting situation of some of the period Sunbeams like the LM alpines which ran both as circuit cars, then as rally cars on the monte carlo and even the targa florio in '63... same car.. many lives/specs.

Then you have Cars liek the HSC55 tiger which due to class changes lost many of its significant special bits as the years passed on, yet still had sucsess in its less ultimate spec under less famous owners.

I think you have a great project putting this car togetehr gary.. its a pitty the original didnt survive, but i guess it saves you the fun of having to deal with people speculating as to what state to restore that car, its original works rally winning spec or later modesports spec, which obviuosly has more sentimental importance to you.
