Spin on oil filters

Who uses a spin on oil filter. Do you know what make and part # it is. My car had a Mann W 77 on it and I have been trying to cross reference to another more common brand with know luck. I can't even find it on their web site. It is only 60mm long and not much wider in dia than the rubber seal. I don't think you would get anything bigger on. Trying to find an old canister type as original would be near imposible in this part of the world.

I will be putting headers on in the future. Can you still use a spin on or do you have to go to a remote. Might be easier to do that now if I am going to have to in the end.
Cheers Mal.

Hi Mal,

You could try the Ford motorsport 90 degree oil filter adaptor. You can then use the the original oil filter. The only problem is that they can't be used with some headers (not sure what ones though). I have one of the adaptors on my Tiger (no more leaky remote adaptors). I remember the topic of the short filters on another forum, but was always a bit dubious in using a smaller filter than originally specified.

Regards, Robin.

Thanks Robin.
I now have one orderd. They had one in auckland so I should have it tomorrow. I did read somewhere where they were installing equal length headers they had to use a remote filter. It will be tidyer with the 90 deg adaptor.

Hi
you can use the 90 degree adaptor with header's, as i have done, it only works on right hand drive cars and you have to point the filter forward's and not down as you would without header's. To get the adaptor to fit behind header, you have to get 3mm machined off the height + a new grove for the "O" ring, the filter i use is off 2004 ford focus. I will post some pictures, when i have worked out how.
