Bodywork Restoration

Hi, I’ve got my newly acquired Tiger resto-project stripped down to the shell. Can anybody recommend a bodywork specialist in the south east familiar with Tigers? - The scuttle panel needs some welding and I'd like to have it carried out to a high standard.
Also, my car is a late Mk1 model with round, leaded, boot and door corners but a square cornered bonnet; is this common for cars produced during the change-over to the Mk1a? This particular car appears to be largely original, having reputedly been off the road since the late 70s.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards, Daniel

Daniel,
What you describe seems very unsual. The late SIV alpines and indeed early SV (so late MKI Tigers and early IA's) had the cross over bodies.
This meant they had the square cornered bonnet and doors, but the boot had the round corners.. you are saying your car has round boot AND doors?

Hi Michael,
Yes, rounded boot and doors, square bonnet. Scraping away at the paint, I have found the original colour on the floors, bulkheads, scuttle, inner wings and sills, suggesting that most of the imortant panels are original.
Seems hard to believe that someone would have gone to the bother of modifying the scuttle to retro-fit a square bonnet.
Anyone else ever seen this before?
The car is near Brighton, Sussex, UK, if anyone fancies casting their expert eye over it - coffee and cake provided...

Send the chassis number of your Tiger to
stoc@sunbeamtiger.co.uk and we will check it against the records and give you a name of a restorer in the south east.

Hi Daniel.
I have seen Tigers with square cornered bonnets and round cornered doors. Dont worry about it I think Rootes just used what was lying around at the time!
If your car is the one I think it is (was Artic White now red primer?) the scuttle holes can be welded up by any decent body shop in about a day.
Good luck with the rebuild!

Hi Ash,
Thanks for your reply. Having messed around with old cars for a few years, that's pretty much what I thought was going on with the round and square corner combination - good to hear it from a Tiger man though.
Thanks,
Daniel
