Greetings from San Diego. I will enjoy reading the latest from your section of the Tiger world. I am a member of C.A.T here in SoCal.

No Tiger in the garage but that soon may change.

Current resident is a '70 Boss 302. Have owned a bunch of Porsches, one Tiger, loads of Mustangs and Corvettes.

Trust me, I'm no high roller. I buy what I think I want, which turns out, it really wasn't what I wanted, put a bunch of money in it and sell....at a loss. I never learn.

If I were a high roller, there would be a '64 Aston Martin sitting in the garage. Geez, you guys sure have made some great cars.

Hey Mike.. if you really lust after a DB4.. have you ever seen the Harrington D type based tiger?

Was that like Dick Barkers, LeMans Tiger? if it is, then, not only did I get to see it, but touch and put my hot breath on it. He lived in San Diego.

Mike IIRC i htink Dicks car was the "mule" (test car) its still in the USA. As for the similarities between the Lister built LM cars and the Harrington conversion, apart from being Sunbeams and fastbacks thats where it ends.. The LM cars were very extensively modified both body and spec wise.. infact.. at least some were factory conversions on S3 Alpine platforms from the initial prototype Tiger evaluations, the AF series cars.

STOC member Chris Gruys owns 'The Mule' aka the 'Thunderbolt' and it still resides in California. As Michael points out 7734 KV (B9499999) was built up from AF1, itself believed to have been derived from the prototype Rootes built (as opposed to JML) - Project 870. The original donor vehicle was a SIII Alpine. This can be established by reference to the Pressed Steel Fisher (body manufacturer) patent plate.
The patent plate was changed upon the intoduction of the S1V Alpine and I believe it is these later plates that can be found on the two Le Mans race Tigers.
