Engine decals?

Post by Ash » Sat Jan 15, 2011 2:56 pm

Has anyone considered reproducing the octagonal "STOP" sticker for the tiger a/c air cleaner or the small Ford sticker for the chrome valve cover?

I didn't know there was one for the air cleaner. Your not thinking of a Mustang are you? Do you have a picture with one on it?

You dont see many these days but they did exist.
I dont have a picture but if you look at the Blenhiem 2009 thread (page3 sunbeam tiger) there is a white original tiger and you can just see the decal. I have seen other tigers with them.

Thanks Ash, I will have to keep an eye out for that. Do you know if they were on certain Tiger's eg. early or late, etc.

I dont think all cars had them fitted but I have seen a few mk1 cars early and late that had them.

I had a look in a few of my Tiger books, but couldn't find anything. I have seen a few similar looking decals to the rocker cover one that you spoke about through some of the Mustang sites. Not exactly the same, but close. It was silver and black instead of silver and blue and was for door sills.

Regards, Robin.

I must have 3 or 4 pairs of chrome tiger rocker covers at home but none of them still have the Ford decal. If I can find one to copy I may try and get some made? I am sure there is a market!

Ash, the small ford decal is available from rick at SS in the USA, no point having them made. As for the "STOP" sticker on the aircleaner... i looked though all the road test MKI/MKII and couldnt see a period pic with them on (they all have good shots of the engne bay) might have been added by the original owner or the dealer.. dont thik its a factory sticker.

What about some of your UK based suppliers. Surely they can help? I have bought parts from them in the past and always seemed well stocked.

you would think a brand new engine would be ok .anyway turned out to be a fault on fords part.the supplier of the engine replaced the heads and checked the whole engine ,dynoed it free of charge.and even compensated me .glad it went when it did another month and it was out of warranty, had some more restoration done while it was in bit ,and lots of mcgee motorsport mods done .looking forward to collecting it although not sure if there are any tyres left after the roadtest.

both my tigers had them stickkers on them .will look if they are still here,
