How many different colours were Tigers made in and were MK1 and MK2 colours totally different?

This was spurred by these pics as I thought it was a terrific colour and I wondered if it was standard or not.





A list, hopefully including pics and codes, of all the colours would be great and a good reference tool for owners.

I'd say the colour is about as stock as the wheels!

For a full colour list go to the SAOCA site, they have one for all the alpines/tigers by year/series. As for samples.. they used to have that. but not much point given the variations in peoples screens.

Martin - I can't add anything to Michael's suggestion right now but I can say the Swedish Tiger you point out is a rare example of a LRO FE Tiger; one of a small band of just over 50 known survivors built for the LHD European market. In fact any LHD market other than North America and Canada.

These rare machines were were sold under the 'Alpine 260' brand and the one you picture was sold new to Holland in 1965 before finding its way to Sweden 16 years later.

The STOC Tiger Register has a record of 25 MK1's, 20 MK1A's and 1 MKII but Norm Miller's Registry has afew more than that. We think 6 are here in the UK.

Ah, it's one of those is it.

I don't know what it is I like about the colour because it's almost beige.
I do like the wheels though. They remind me of TR6 wheels.

Graham, how many RRO cars were built

Mal. I can't tell you how many RRO's were built as that cannot be seen in the Jensen Ledgers but I can tell you known survivors can be counted on 15 fingers. Their rarity is up there with RHD MKII's!! As ever I'll stand correction by Norm Miller but here's the STOC Register's best shot of what's out there:

Original sales:
Australia: 2
New Zealand: 4
Rhodesia: 2
South Africa: 1
Sweden: 1 (RHD system until H-Day in 1967)
U.K.: 5

Giving an elite band of 15 survivors that STOC knows of. The U.K. cars were probably ordered for collection in the UK for export and on-ward delivery but never left the country for what ever reason.

If not mistaken these 3 MKIA's and 12 MK1's are now to be found in:
Australia: 3
New Zealand: 4
Japan: 1
Sweden: 2
U.K.: 4
U.S.A.: 1

In the Australian & NZ Tiger registry there are 8 RRO cars
4 in Australia
3 in NZ currently. One of them mine which was only imported in 2008.
One of the originaly imported cars to NZ is now in Japan.


The NZ Sunbeam car club are trying to get all members to register there cars with the club, so more maybe found.
