How Many Seats Does a Tiger Have?

Is a Tiger and an Alpine for that matter, a 2 seater or 4?

As there is a generous shelf behind the front seats, some of which are padded to look like seats, could you park 2 bums on there legally.

legal will very much depend on where you are..

there were optional rear seat cushions offered for both alpine and tiger with the intent of allowing comfortable seating for rear passengers, though on an ST model that still means an uncomfortable backrest (hood storage bins) and no leg room, and probably worse on a SV or MKIA/II because of the shorter backrest.

On the ST cars they have the thinly padded rear pleated seat cover, but thats more decoration than anything. GT alpines and the few GT tigers have a thicker rear cushion and an angled backrest, but again no more legroom.

I have had 2 people in the back of my alpine (even with soft top up once!) i had the SII manual with me and am quite sure in the blurbs it mentioned the "ocasional rear seat" .. 1 person sideways being the most comfirtable way. But there are no belts.. its tight and is only if you HAVE to carry people.. it's not safe.

I used to have 2 baby seats in the back for family outings & boot rack to take the push chairs. May not work now as both kids 6' plus.

Hi Martin,

You would be better off asking your local road authorities. I know here, you wouldn't get away with it for too long without the fuzz pulling you over.

Regards, Robin.

I should have said in the OP really that I don't intend to put anyone in the back.
This was just a thought that sprang into my head after looking at the log book and noticing that the number of seats isn't mentioned, and them remembering seeing padded shelves in some pics.

It also raised the issue of legality though as, if it was sold as a rear bench seat, and seat belts were not fitted from new, legally ( but not safely) people could sit in the back without belts and be perfectly legal.

A Michael mentions, it would seem that it was intended to be used as a seat and as Bob points out, it can have it's uses.

2+2

Great photo, must be 20 years ago at Glevering hall. Wish my gut hadn't grown as much as my beard reduced!
