LPG Gas Conversion

Post by Tomaselli » Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:16 pm

With an ever increasing fuel/gasoline price I know I should be giving some thought to "green & environmental" issues and wondering whether a LPG conversion for our small block fords for better fuel consumption should be the way forward.

Have seen this on eBay and am very tempted......

Would be interesting to have that installed at a rolling road day, what BHP do you think I would get :?:

Tony,

I had though about LPG a whle back. LPG is quite popular down under and they have been converting ford V8's and Commodore v8 (chev v8) motors for years (it was also popular to switch jag XJ6's as well).

You loose some Hp with the switch to LPG. You used to save heaps on fuel, but recently they have raised the price of LPG. Still is very ESD and i guess if you could make the LPG tank like a large version of the header tank then it would be kind of cool.

Tony,
I don't know your regulations over there, but that tank would probably be to old to use here. At least it would need to be tested.
A dedicated lpg system probably wouldn't lose any hp. A dual system won't optimise any system. LPG has a higher octane rating then pump petrol, so you can run higher compression.
You don't get the same milage from a tank of gas as you do petrol, so you have to fill up more often.

Michael, very nice but you forgot to connect up the gas line.

Hi,

It would certainly be a popular modification if you didn't loose boot space. I'm sure some custom tanks could be done, but I doubt the fuel economy would change much (especially if you use more LPG). At least you could say your doing your bit for the environment. :)

Regards, Robin.

Tony... its not nitro prooomise...its just a really big overflow tank.. going to switch to Aqua power

Mal as for the hoses not being conected... its just an overflow outlet.
