Paint codes

Post by le tigre » Mon Nov 11, 2013 11:51 am

I hope someone can help me with this. I am looking for the modern paint code for Carnival red so that I can get some mixed for some repairs. I have tried a search of the forums but it didn't bring anything up.
Thanks in advance,

Andy

Hi Andy,

I have done some further research. ICI has been taken over in 2008 by the Dutch enterprise AkzoNobel. This company has a daughter company in the Netherlands which is specialised in paint. The name of this company is Sikkens and they are well known in the Netherlands.I have been in contact with them and they say the following: the color Carnival Red is known to them with carcode 39, but the original color is not available any more.
All colours are being matched to the colourmap of Sikkens and the position which is connected to Carnival Red is 405A5. They confirm that this colour is for at least 98% the same, there are allways little differences even with cars from 2013.
I hope this will help you.
Regards,
Peter

Just been along to see my man with the spray gun and unfortunately he uses PPG paint. We can't find a conversion from Sikkens to PPG codes. Does anyone have the PPG paint code for carnival red?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Hi Graham

Thanks for that. That code ties in with a code I found for Lotus Elan's of our era, so I reckon that should do it. As you probably guessed, that's the new front valance going on!
Many thanks and best wishes for 2014.

Andy :D
