Rear brake linings

I have had new linings placed on the rear shoes. I have the adjustment backed right off, and can still not get the drums on. Linings are 6.5mm thick.
Whats wrong here,

Hi Mal, the linings on the new ones I have measure 5mm so that could be it.

Hi Mal,

Not sure what the thickness of a new lining should be, but that looks very chunky. One other thing that might help, could be loosening off of the hand-brake cable if not already done.

Hi Mal, here's a piccy of the shoes in place.
These are brand new, straight out of the box.

..and one showing the lining thickness.

The brake drum fitted on nicely.
I'd forgotten how much of a pain in the ass fitting brake shoes is.

They are the cleanest brakes I have ever seen. How did you get them so 'new' looking?

I tend to get carried away when doing things like this, so mainly through hours of cleaning lol.
I had it all to bits to replace the oil seals so I cleaned the cylinders with a brass wire brush, wire brushed everything else and sprayed the non abutment areas with satin black.
I am sad lol.

Last things first. You may see me at Donnington, but not the car as I have a habit of taking things to bits quickly but back together slowly.
This isn't helped by my garage being about 3ft wider and 4ft longer than the Tiger lol. Oh I wish I had a garage like Mal's.

Basically, at the moment, everything rear of the gearbox (in and out) is off of the car to be checked, cleaned, painted etc and put back on again.

It wouldn't be fair to call it a restoration as the car was in a very sound state anyway. I just get carried away with things lol

I wish I had taken pics as I had gone a long, but I didn't take many.
If I can find enough, I may make a thread.
