Just had my Tiger MoT`d and failed! The failure being the rubber gaitors on the steering rack were cracked. On dismantling the rack I found that the rack was bone dry of lubricant! I just wonder how many other cars are like this? While I was at it I replaced the track rod ends.

Good job they noticed it.
A MOT fail is a lot cheaper than a new rack.

I replaced both steering gaitors on my tiger last year before my MOT was due. I had problems in injecting the amount of oil specified in the Tiger manual. Tricky job without removing steering rack but managed it.

Its definately easier topping up the gear oil in the steering rack when its out. But it does cause a few skinned knuckles!!
