Thermostac for leccy fan

Hi Folks
The Therm' that came with my Kenlowe fan has chucked it.
New ones are about £55- which seems a lot for a 50p switch
I thought about wiring it 'ON' when ignition 'ON', but ....maybe not.
Then I came across 'X-Eng' brand 'in- hose' switches. They do a 1" piece that might fit into a minor hose maybe, on top of't engine.
These manage without bodging that bulb and capillary into the top hose. Always a potential leak.
Has anyone tried one of these X-Eng jobbies, or maybe even got a better idea?
(The capillary on my old switch is ok, but the contacts on the microswitch are burned to death)
