Has anyone found a full fan shroud from another car that fits?

Pity that, with the radiator (I imagine) shares the same size or similar to Alpine/Husky variants that there would be some other factory alternatives. Perhaps the fan shroud was a Tiger only solution.

Amazing how is was popular in the 70's to throw out the fan shroud from the engine bay, with the perceived idea that it would get more air flow.

There are a few repros about, but must be somebody with metal bashing/engineering skills Simon to churn a few out

Great, Ive been looking at keeping cool since frying my ignition. Even with flexi fan, alley rad, big kenlow and blocked horn holes isnt enough for a warm 302 with headers. It seems the answer lies in a fan shroud together with moving electric fan away 1/2" and blocking off other routes for hot rad air to circulate back to intake side. Looks like the original rad could go back in too.

20mins stationary and Im in trouble. Timing is good, thermo opens, water still there, standard water pump ratios, tick over 850rpm, 14lb cap. Electric helps but currently too close to rad.

I can smell it overheating and the coil, resitor and condensor all failed-can only be heat.

Saw a very technical report on Tiger cooling. It as good as proved quantity of cool air through the rad, when stationary, was the answer. To achieve this horn holes need covering, bottom of rad to suspension needs blocking, push electric fan placed 1/2" from rad(nobody knows why but it works) and importantly a shrouded fan (preferably flexi) will do the job.

Wet water, pulley ratios, lost thermo, alley rad, etc shown to be hocus pocus or unecessary.

i blocked the horn holes it didnt seem to make a difference .

Reproduction fan shroud

My fan shroud was missing so I purchased one of the reproduction metal ones, which when painted looks superb and difficult to distinguish from an original. Flexi fan fits inside as well.

They are available from your friendly Sunbeam/Rootes spares suppliers.

I have high power 302. Alloy rad, blocked horn holes, valance to bottom rad sealed. restrictor plate instead of thermostat, 2 speed electric fan. But I also have changed water pump to electric with no mechanical fan. Car runs cool, almost too cool at times. Electric pump circulates consistent good volume of water, even when idling, & this seems to be the answer.
Maybe check your rad isn't partially blocked as they seem to deteriorate regularly.

I agree with bigbob. Partially blocked radiators are a pain. I have fitted TEFBA filters to the top hoses on both my small block engined cars after fitting new ally rads. and am always amazed at how much stuff they filter out to protect your radiators. Highly recommended! Only found out about them from Cobra forum members.

They now come with a magnet to further improve filtering.

Fan Shroud

Last year I had to replace a leaking Heater matrix, after which I found the running temp had dropped a few degrees, so If you haven't replaced or flushed it out, It's worth doing. I also run without a thermostat which allows a greater flow of water.

If we are veering in this thread to getting onto what it takes to keep the Tiger cool, there isn't much more to be said that isn't covered here..... unless??

That article is why Im asking about a shroud. Very good I thought.

Tha alley rad is brand new so blockage there. No water leaks and low temp thermo. Electric pump sounds good. shes getting hot but never actually boiled, its the electics that failed. Could be cheap Chinese stuff or coil on its side etc but thats another story.

I had overheating problems when running-in a rebuilt 'warm' 289 and made my own fully enclosed shroud ( already had flexi-fan). It's made a huge difference. Took a while to build, a bit of origami in card and then copied in ally sheet. Polishes up nicely.
