Hi all and Happy New Year
I've posted this query on the Tiger UK Facebook Page and got some possible solutions posted but thought I would try on here too?
After having Charging Issues I've recently replaced the Dynamo on my car for a fully reconditioned unit together with an Electronic Voltage Regulator, the charging system appears to be working fine now
However I've still got a strange problem (Which has worsened) of a knocking noise working its way up the steering column when turning at Junctions which I'm 99% sure is the Dynamo Body catching the Steering UJ Coupling.
I've attached a photo which shows very tight clearance, anybody else had a similar issue?
I've been given a couple of possible solutions on the facebook post including raising the engine with spacer washers and grinding/filing the part of the Dynamo Body that catches the UJ.
Any further advice welcomed.

Re: Dynamo Clearance Issues
I had this problem some years ago and fitted 1/4" thick spacers on the engine mount on that side of the engine and that cured it.
Re: Dynamo Clearance Issues
I did some further investigation at the weekend, with the car jacked up on Axle stands I could see the PO Martin had fitted some Stainless Steel Heat Shields between the Exhaust Manifolds and the Engine Block to protect the Engine Mounting Rubbers presumably, these appear to raise the Engine 3 or 4mm?
There also appears to be some thin spacers between the top of the Engine Mounts, although it's hard to see clearly.
So, on the suggestion of someone on the Tiger UK Facebook post, I decided to take the Dynamo off once again and check it, there was a clear witness mark to the rear lower casing adjacent the rear cover where the Steering UJ had been catching, so I decided to Grind/File down the offending area of the Dynamo.
A bit of a bodge I know, but the casing is very thick and I'm pleased to say it appears to have worked
After a couple of coats of touch up paint, replacement of the Dynamo and a test run the Dynamo was charging correctly still and no knocking noises up the Column when turning
I decided to take part in a local Classic car run on the Sunday and the steering was fine, however another problem appeared 5 or 6 miles into the run when part of the Throttle linkage mechanism (I had previously replaced?!!) decided to break apart.
I manage to swap the offending part for a spare I had in the Boot and completed the run without further problems, it would seem the offending Throttle arm is made up of two parts, and the joint had failed?
I've no idea how they are joined (Either Glued/Soldered/Brazed) presumably and have queried with the supplier?
A couple of Photo's, my Car at the Finish and the Offending part.
