THE LE MANS CLASSIC

The first Le Mans Classic is set to be one of the highlights of the racing year and we hope a spectacular first for the community of Sunbeam Tiger enthusiasts. TIGERS INTERNATIONAL brings together at the fantastic Sarthe circuit the 1964 Le Mans Tigers with Peter Procter and Jimmy Blumer for the first time since the main event in June 1964.

The Competition will include 300 cars, which have participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1923 and 1975. They will be split, according to their period, into 5 grids. They will run every hour for 35 minutes, grid by grid and so will compete four times - night and day. The cars will be displayed in a "Le Mans style" start before the formation lap. There can be upto four drivers per car and drivers' will be allowed to race on their own but every car has to form a team with a car from each other period grid. The LM Tigers and the LM Alpine will therefore be in separate teams for the race event
Here is a translation of what the LeMans Classic organisers say!
"The premier aim of the Le Mans Classic is to be the celebration of historic cars. This festival is not only content with opening one of the most mythical tracks of the world to racing cars but also aims to attract inside the circuit the models that were the automotive industry jewels at the time. The Makes Car Clubs are essential for the success of such an initiative set up under the wing and with the help of the FFVE and the FIVA."
"The Le Mans circuit, is the perfect place for a huge club gathering. The access ways are easy and the area available inside the circuit is wide"
"The Marque Car Clubs: European spirit: To celebrate the marques the organisers are providing a dedicated area to each marque, where the clubs and members arriving from any country will meet"
"The 'Espace Clubs' at the circuit Bugatti - in the core of the action:: The Marques Car Clubs will be offerred the whole surface lining the Bugatti circuit which will also be used as the assembly area for cars competing on the long track. The best place to benefit from the excitement of the race"

STOC is very pleased to say that having contacted Claude Dubois the co-driver of No8 in 1964, he will be able to join the STOC party and celebrations. At least in part since Claude has entered and hopes to be driving a Mustang Shelby in the main event!
