With the very strong interest from the “online” forum members here it has been agreed to run with organising a Rolling Road day at John Sleath. However, to take into account summer holidays over the next few months, allow people sufficient time to prepare their cars and to avoid clashing with other Tiger events the day is scheduled to take place on Saturday 1St October. A full day has been provisionally booked with the tuner in Doncaster.
There will be a choice on the day of opting for a simple “power-pull” which is a case of driving your Tiger onto the rolling road for a dyno reading and that is all (£50), or (if time permits for all attendees on the day) an hourly rate of £70 can be arranged if it turns out that extra work is needed to get the most from your existing setup. This may involve changing jets, adjusting powervalves and optimising your ignition timing, etc. Either way, it is imperative that simple things like HT Leads, coil, points, condenser and plugs, (anything serviceable) – are in tip top shape. No point wasting your money if your Tiger doesn’t have the basics sorted, but am sure as keen enthusiasts we already have such simple things well and truly dealt with.
As we are booking a full day with John Sleath it will be necessary to get your commitment and a holding deposit of £20 will be required to guarantee your place. Numbers will naturally need to be limited, and whilst it will depend on how much time owners will need to see their cars sorted, John Sleath is comfortable with offering the day out to 10 Tigers - this will ensure everybody gets "quality" time on the dyno.
Those who have already expressed a strong interest;
Gary Jackson
Dean McGee
Tony Tomaselli
Dave Puzey
Martin Stowe
Nick Shaw
Initially, the interest has been from the “digital members” via this forum, but the date chosen will also allow for the meet to be published in the next edition of CATS Whiskers or circulated through a club webmail to all members of the club. This in turn, may capture those members who are not direct forum users.
As numbers will be limited to ten Tigers running on the rolling road so if there are any more Tiger owners out there (perhaps lurking) who wants to join in the fun and see if their engines are working at optimum performance then either send me a pm or email:
sunbeamtiger@gmail.com Alternatively, if your Tiger is off-road or undergoing restoration but would like to attend the meet it would be good to see a good turnout of STOC members at the event, you never know if sufficient demand it could become a regular feature on the Tiger calendar.
Intention will be for a "fun day" at the tuner so catering will be accommodated for everyone.
Address, instructions, details of the catering and directions of the venue in Doncaster will be circulated nearer the time.
The price first quoted has gone up slightly but this now includes sandwiches and soft drinks ,can i also thank tony tomaselli as he has done most of the work trying to organise this event ,
