GOODWOOD REVIVAL

LE MANS TIGERS REUNITED WITH WORKS DRIVERS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1964.

The month long TIGERS INTERNATIONAL programme will kick off at the spectacular Goodwood Revival Meeting for all to see the No8 & No9 LM Tigers running at the historic Goodwood circuit in the TT Celebration race, THE feature race of the Revival. Peter Procter & Jimmy Blumer have very kindly agreed to be re-united with the No9 Tiger, which Darrell Mountjoy is generously bringing from California to Europe this Summer, as well as Tony Eckford's superb No8 LM Tiger. Peter Proctor will co-drive No9 with Darrell and Howden Ganley, former F1 and BRM grand prix driver will co-drive No8 with Chris Beighton - STOC member & Anglo-American class winner. Brian Lister and Ken Hazelwood , designers of the LM Tigers and numerous other race cars will be present in the Paddock as a part of the '1964 Reunion', as will Rosemary Smith who will be racing a Rapier in the St Mary's Trophy.

The Goodwood Motor Racing Club and STOC! would greatly appreciate a goodly number of production Tigers attending in support of this truly unique occasion. See below what fabulous company will be on the grid with No8 & No9. This undoubtedly will be one of the most important events in the history of Sunbeam Tigers since 1964 and one to savour for many years to come.

"The Goodwood Motor Circuit Revival Meeting relives the circuit's glory days between 1948 and 1966, when it hosted racing of all kinds, including F1 and the celebrated Tourist Trophy race for World Championship sportscars. Each September, Goodwood's spectacularly fast circuit echoes once more to the spine-tingling bark of golden-age 1950s Grand Prix cars and thundering 1960s GT cars from such great names as Ferrari, Jaguar and Aston Martin. Minis snap at the heels of lumbering Ford Galaxies in the saloon car race, and little-seen Formula Juniors and tiny 500cc F3 racers battle it out in closely-fought dices. But the Revival Meeting is far more than a series of races for historic cars - it is a magical step back in time and a chance for visitors to revel in the romance of motor racing as it used to be. The lovingly restored circuit is unchanged from its heyday, and great lengths are taken to ensure that everything on the site is exactly as it was. This means that period vehicles provide all essential services and competitor support. It's not just the circuit and the vehicles that have an authentic period look. All circuit staff and competitors dress in appropriate period clothing, as do the many visitors, who consider it all part of the fun. .The Revival Meeting is the only event that carefully places motor racing into an historical backdrop. The result is a truly unforgettable experience, and an atmosphere unlike any other sporting event."
Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration race. Described as " as the greatest race on earth". In Goodwood's heyday, this was a three-hour endurance race for World Championship sports cars, and later for GT cars. This race evolved from the Nine Hours race, and was the showpiece of the Goodwood season. At the Revival Meeting, this is the main race on Sunday afternoon - a one-hour, two-driver challenge for closed-cockpit GT cars (1960-1964), featuring some of the most famous names in motorsport in around £20million of exotic cars. Indycar champion Bobby Rahal will line up in a Ferrari 250 GTO against Sir Stirling Moss, Derek Bell, Jackie Oliver, Jochen Mass, Patrick Tambay, Brian Redmond, Jason Plato, Howden Ganley, Win Percy and Gerry Marshall. Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro plans to defend his victory last year in a Jaguar E-type Lightweight, fending off Aston Martin Project cars, AC Cobras, Chevrolet Corvettes and a brace of Sunbeam Lister Tigers!

Please visit Goodwood online soonest to book your tickets for this magnificent weekend and plse let STOC know when you do. All STOC Tigers should make for the "Pre 66" Clubs car park [B], which is just outside the circuit. You will need to prebook a space when obtaining tickets from Goodwood. (We expect 1966 and 1967 Tigers will be allowed to run through the pre 66 date rule!). Because bagging a parking area in advance is not on, someone from STOC will get in early and collect all Tigers arriving by 8.30. We can then park up all together. Please let Graham Vickery know if you plan on joining in. I know of 20 plus Tigers attending Sunday.

Jimmy Blumer in ADU 638B will lead one procession of Tigers into the Pre 66 Club area.
